Why CT scanners are essential for advanced dentistry and are a fantastic investment when it comes to saving time and costs:
“One of the best investments we have made has undoubtedly been our Cone Beam CT (Computerised Tomography) Scanner. Used daily, the results of this cutting-edge technology are simply outstanding. For our more complex cases, it’s a must. The high resolution 3-D images show extensive detailed information of the bone volume and shape of the patient’s jaw. We can then instantly assess whether they are a suitable candidate for dental implants, saving everybody both time and costs. The images can then be further used to create a surgical guide to accurately place the implant. For us it means that precision planning in 3-D takes away the element of educated ‘guesswork’ and greatly improves predictability.
Most people are familiar with the hospital tunnel scanner and although it produces similar results, the cone beam scanner has much lower radiation levels. Most people are also probably familiar with hospital queues, waiting times and car parks. Our online booking form is quick and easy and patients will be given an appointment at a time suitable for them. Scanning time takes around 9 seconds to complete so patients are in and out within a few minutes. The results can then be instantly emailed or put onto a CD and posted out the same day.
The majority of our implant patients will have a scan and we find the images are also a great way to help explain their procedure, and to assure them they are getting the very best expert treatment. We also receive referrals for endodontics, orthodontics and all types of oral surgery which also benefit from 3-D planning.”
